EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The Douglass High School Alumni Association, Inc. (DHSAA)is pleased to sponsor the 1stAnnual Juneteenth Festival in partnership with the No More Shackles Empowerment Mentoring Program, Inc., NAACP Thomas County Branch, City of Thomasville, One Heartbeat, Inc., Project Backyard, & Heritage Foundation.  Our goal is to educate everyone about African Americans’ freedom and achievements while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures.  Respect and appreciation for all of our differences grows out of exposure and working together.  This celebration is to create unity in the community, as well as to break pre-judgmental barriers about the origins of the African Americans path to freedom.  This community-wide event will also offer free health screenings, valuable informational displays and much more.  We invite you and /or your organization/business to participate in this momentous event.
