Often times when we think about service or mission work, we imagine going overseas or to some far off land, but the truth is there are people all around us who are suffering and desperate for help, love, truth, and hope.  At Project Backyard, we believe our greatest mission field is "just across the street", and our calling as Christians is to work together to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, heal the sick, and free the captives (Matthew 25:35-40).

For this reason, Project Backyard is committed to creating awareness for local needs and providing consistent opportunities for Christian believers to unite together through serving those in need in their own backyard.  Our hope is to encourage and inspire Christians of all denominations, races, and ages to join together in a united effort to show the love of Jesus to those in the community where they live.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’...“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
— Matthew 25:35-40

Since we began in September of 2012, we have hosted more than 97 service day events, organized 530+ projects, and had over 2500 volunteers serve with us.  It is truly amazing what can be accomplished when we as Christians put our differences aside and combine our efforts to share the love of Jesus to those in need in our own backyard.  For more information about our impact over the last two years, click the link below.

It all started with a vision to see Christians of all denominations, races, and ages join together in a united effort to share the love of Jesus with those in need in their own backyard. Each month, we have seen God's faithfulness and His hand at work through the 1500+ volunteers who have served with us in Thomasville, Tallahassee, Wakulla County, and Perry. With the help of these amazing volunteers, we have seen countless lives impacted and communities be transformed. We believe this is only the beginning, and we are trusting God to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine"(Eph. 3:20) in the coming years. We want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the leaders and volunteers who have served with us these past 2 years. We hope you know that your sacrifices have impacted so many lives in your community. As we look to the future, we will continue to trust in God's faithfulness, as we seek to provide more and more ways for Christians to unite together through service and live out the words of Matthew 25:35-40 & Isaiah 58:10. #bealight #projectbackyard
