THANKSGIVING VOLUNTEER DETAILS

FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD VOLUNTEERS:

(THANKSGIVING DAY TEAMS)

Thank you for signing up to serve with us at the Free Community Thanksgiving Day Meal!  Please look over the important information below:

VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS & ARRIVAL TIMES:

Click the link below to view the list of volunteer assignments. The list is ordered alphabetically by last name, so find your name, your volunteer assignment, and your arrival time, which is highlighted in "orange".  (NOTE: If you do not see your name on the list for some reason, it could be a glitch with our system. You can simply choose a position & arrival time that works for you. When you arrive at the volunteer check-in, let them know of the error and what position you would like to serve.)

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Once you have found your assignment and arrival time(linked above), Click the link below to view a list of the job descriptions for each volunteer assignment. Find the description for your volunteer team assignment, so that you will know exactly what job you are doing.

VENUE LOCATION:

Thomasville High School Cafeteria (315 S. Hansell St., Thomasville, GA) (Get Directions)

PARKING

You will be able to park in certain areas of the THS parking lot, as well as the parking lot directly across the street. Make sure to look for the “volunteer parking” signs.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

When you arrive at Thomasville High School, you will need to check-in at the volunteer table at the entrance of the cafeteria (look for the sign). Once you check in, you will receive further instructions of where to go based on your volunteer assignment.

WHAT TO WEAR:

If it is cold outside, be sure to wear the appropriate clothing. (NOTE: If you are assigned to the Platers Team, Dessert Team, or Kitchen Team, please bring a hat or hair net to wear while handling the food.) We will have "Be A Light" t-shirts on site for FREE when you arrive if you want one.

BE FLEXIBLE:

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we ask that you be flexible and willing to serve wherever is needed. With more than 400 volunteers serving with us, not everyone may be able to serve on the team they requested, but just know that all of the volunteer positions play an important role in making this event a success. Thank you for your understanding and grace.

***WINTER CLOTHES NEEDED:***

This year as part of our Thanksgiving Day Event, we will be offering a winter clothes giveaway to the community, so if you have any winter coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, blankets, pants, etc...we would love to take them off your hands to give them away to those who need them most. If you want to donate winter clothes, please bring them to the Thomasville High School Cafeteria on Wednesday, November 24th between 5pm-8pm.

*** DESSERTS NEEDED:***

We are in need of prepared desserts to give away on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to help us with this, please bring your desserts to the Thomasville High School Cafeteria (315 S. Hansell, St., Thomasville, GA) on Wednesday, November 24th between 5pm-8pm. (Dessert Suggestions: Cookies, Brownies, Cakes, Pies, or anything that can be divided into portions).

QUESTIONS & CONCERNS:

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call or email us at 229-233-0409 or info@projectbackyard.com.

***Make a Donation:***

This event would not be possible without the financial support of people like you. Due to inflation, we are anticipating a 25% increase in our expenses this year, which would make the total cost for this event come to around $12,000.00. For this reason, we are asking if you would prayerfully consider supporting this cause by making a financial contribution as part of your year-end giving. Your support will help us provide a hot meal for 1500-1700 individuals in Thomasville, distribute 300 boxes of non-perishable food, host a winter clothes giveaway, and provide bibles to all those who need them in our community on Thanksgiving Day.

To make a secure donation online, simple click the link below and fill out our donation form. (Note: You can also make a donation via mail by visiting www.projectbackyard.com/donate and following the instructions provided.)
